Best Beer Shops

Luxembourg is right between Germany and Belgium, so you would expect it to be a paradise of beer. It’s not that easy unfortunately, but here you will find where to buy your Belgium and German beer in Luxembourg.

  • Belgium Beer

Cora Supermarket at the Concorde Mall has probably the biggest selection of belgium beers at a reasonable price. It very close to Luxembourg-City (check GoogleMap). Bus 6 brings you from Gare / Hamilius right in front of their door and they also have a huge parking.

An excellent book on Belgium beer is that here: “100 Belgian Beers to Try Before You Die!

  • German Beer

Of course, you get a good selection of German beer also at Cora or at Auchan. But if you want to get real good beer, than go to the Coopérative des Cheminots Bonnevoie (check GoogleMaps) and buy Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier from the world’s oldest brewery. It’s regularly rated as one of the best beers on earth and costs you only around 85 cents per bottle.

Another highlight is the organic wheat beer Neumarkter Lammsbräu. You get it for 1,25€ per bottle at all Naturata Supermarkets in Luxembourg (check GoogleMaps).

For the cheapsters among us, I can recommend the Grafenwalder Premium Pils, which is a no-logo product of Frankfurter Brauhaus. You get it at Lidl for only 35 cent per bottle and it still tasts fine.

  • Luxembourg Beer

Rather disappointing. Luxembourg produces mostly lager. National Luxembourgish breweries are:

  • Diekirch /Mousel (I personally don’t touch Anheuser-Busch InBev beer. I still tried them but didn’t like them. The only exception might be Diekirch Grand Cru, but when I saw that they put artificial colours in it, I didn’t touch it any more)
  • Bofferding

In addition, there are regional breweries:

  • Simon: in Wiltz (North of Luxembourg) / Okult (organic beer) –> probably the only good brewery in Luxembourg!
  • Battin: in Esch-sur-Alzette
  • Beierhaascht
  • Wine

Just to complete this list: if you’re rather interested in wine, check this site to get a first overview.
